This webblog was created only to show how to convert ckf files to Z00. It is well indexed by Google so I decided to publish it here.
I've spent a lot of time searching the net how to convert ckf files to Z00. Finally i've found it somewhere, but it was hard to find by Google search engine, so I decided to publish my own tutorial how to convert it and take care of good position in Google search engine, so everyone can find it. If you have Casio WK 3700 this might be useful for you.
Tones, patterns and other files downloaded from Casio music site have .ckf extension. Casio WK 3700 keyboard accepts only Z00 files (or Z01, Z05 etc). So how to convert ckf to Z00 ? It's very simple.
First, you have to download "Music Data Management Software" from Casio site. This software is also on CD attached to the keyboard (have to be somewhere in the box with keyboard).
Next, you have to install it.
OK, if you have installed it already, start the program (start menu -> Casio -> IDES 3 -> Music Data Management Software).
If you don't have MIDI wire there should appear an error ("Can't find MIDI device" or something like that). I use floppy disk so I describe how to convert it using floppy.
Click 'ok' to close error message. Now you have Preferences window on your screen. Open "Disk" tab and select your floppy drive. Next open "Directory" tab and select folder that you'll be using to store your files (styles, tones etc). Remember where it is. Click OK.
Now download some tones or styles from casio site and copy it to the directory you have selected before.
In the program there are 2 columns. Let's convert some tones (without a wave).
Select USER TONE from list in left corner (if you want to convert pattern you have to select "user rythm")
Now click on a button with two blue arrows (below). There should appear tones in the left column.
Then, above the right column there are some tabs. Put some floppy disk in and select "Disk" tab. Now refresh view using button with 2 blue arrows (using this on the right!).
Select file in the left column (ckf) and press button with red arrow. It'll copy your file to the floppy and automatically convert it to Z00 (or Z01, Z02 etc) file.
Now you can simply put your floppy into the keyboard and install new tones, patterns etc.
Enjoy ;)
